Senior Cooking Club info.

Valerie has room for more kids who'd like to do cooking club on Thursday. Here's what they're making, along with what you need to bring for it. Any questions, contact her:



Ingredients for Mexican Tater Tot Casserole

Get these ingredients together

Ingredients:

1 pound ground beef
1/2 onion, chopped
1 can enchilada sauce
1 small can mild diced green chiles
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
salt and pepper to taste
1 can corn, drained
1 pound Cheddar cheese, grated (or a Mexican blend)
1 bag frozen tater tots

Directions for assembling Mexican Tater Tot Casserole

Preheat oven to 375.
Brown meat and onion; drain. Mix in sauce, chilies, and seasonings. Heat through.
Spread in 13x9-inch pan.
Cover meat with corn, and cover corn with cheese.
Place tater tots evenly over casserole until it is completely covered.
Bake 45 minutes or until tater tots are lightly browned and mixture is bubbly.
Serve with sour cream and salsa, if desired.

Decorate a Notebook, and Make Hair Accessories

Come and get creative with us this week. We thought it would be fun to make a few things to get ready for school. This week for our craft we are decorating spiral notebooks, and making some hair accessories!

NOTEBOOKS:
Bring a notebook, scrapbook paper, ribbon and any other accessories you would like to decorate with. Bring some glue too.

HAIR ACCESSORIES:

Bring artificial flowers, scrap fabric, ribbon, and a glue gun.

I will bring metal hair clips to glue them to.

What:
Jr. Cooking Club (4-8 year olds)

Who: Brooklynn Ussery + kids

Where: Danebo Bldg. kitchen

When: Thursday, July 14

Time: 4:00 - 5:00pm (hopefully in just in time for dinner!)

What to bring: * macaroni * grated cheddar cheese * tomato juice * casserole dish * extra large bowl * large mixing spoon *

Recipe: Grandma's Macaroni & Cheese
6 cups uncooked large elbow macaroni, cook & drain
8-10 cups grated cheddar cheese
40 oz. tomato juice (+/-)
salt & pepper to taste

In a large bowl, mix cheese with macaroni a little at a time. Add tomato juice a little at a time so it's "stir-able". Add salt & pepper to taste. Pour into casserole dish. Sprinkle cheddar cheese on top.

Bake @ 350 for 40-50 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbling.

Cooking Club sign ups!!

Hello all!!

We are excited for all this summer fun and really want anyone and everyone to feel they are welcome to be a part. We are open to ideas and are looking for people to help host as well (more on that below). We are trying to get the word out to as many people as we can. If your child (or a child you know) would like to participate, please let us know ASAP... we can only accommodate a few kids at a time due to kitchen space.

Hosting... (Jr. = 4-8yrs Sr. = 9+yrs)
WHEN: Thursdays
WHAT: Choose a recipe for the group to make and decide if you will have everyone bring what they need, delegate the list amongst participants or just figure the cost and ask them to bring that amount.
THEN: Help the kids follow the recipe and send them home with their masterpieces!
WHO: You + choose another adult to help you
TIME: Typically morning for ages 4-8 and anytime for "older kids". Length will depend on recipe, just consider attention span

Please specify which age group you would like to host as well.
